Sounds funny, doesn’t it? The term “pigs in a blanket” typically refers to hot dogs, in this case mini cocktail smokies, wrapped in dough. There are a variety of different ways you can make these, some may include using Vienna sausages, cocktail sausages, breakfast/link sausages or classic hotdogs baked inside some type of dough; usually biscuit dough or croissant dough. Mini hot dogs are NOT just for kids – these pigs in a blanket are the perfect bite-sized snack/appetizer for anyone!
Ingredients
Mini Cocktail Smokies – Can be replaced by Vienna sausage, link sausage, hotdog etc. You can even use regular sized smokies and cut cut them in half or thirds. Pillsbury Crescent Rolls – You can use any type of dough, I find this to be the most simple. Egg – Beaten for egg wash. Sesame/Poppy Seeds – Optional. Coarse Salt – To taste, also optional.

Leftovers
All leftovers should be stored in an airtight container or wrapped in foil/cling wrap (tightly) in the fridge for up to a week! Again, you can freeze these little pigs for up to a month if you want to keep them longer! You can heat refrigerated pigs in a blanket by microwaving them, placing them in a crockpot on warm for 20-30 minutes, or you can reheat them in the oven. If using the oven, place them on a baking sheet at 350° and bake for 8-10 minutes.
