Easy Mocktail

What is a mocktail? It’s a handcrafted drink made with no alcohol. They are typically made with a combination of fruit juices, soda water, and ice. This easy mocktail is inspired by one I recently enjoyed while at a wedding in California. My pregnant friend asked the bartender for a non-alcoholic drink, and once I saw what he made for her, I simply had to try it, too! Mocktails aren’t just for those who need to avoid alcohol; they are also perfect for moments when you want to have a fun drink, without a hangover the next day....

Easy Zucchini Salad

The salad looks lovely, with the bright color of the zucchini and the wavy ribbons creating a captivating look. It’s excellent as an appetizer or side dish, adding a pop of color and freshness to your dinner. You simply have to slice the zucchini into thin ribbons with a vegetable peeler and marinate them in lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and fresh herbs for a few minutes. To make the salad more substantial, add toasted pine nuts, olives, and cherry tomatoes and serve it on a hummus plate....

German Fruit Cake Recipe Video

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy. My only complaint about this berry cake cake is that it dissapears fast! My children especially loved it. German Fruit Cake What is Stabilized Whipped Cream? Regular whipping cream has a reputation of not staying put over time, especially when piped. This can be due to under-beating the whipped cream, or purchasing the wrong cream. For whipped cream, make sure the package says HEAVY whipping cream as opposed to plain whipping cream....

Giant Cinnamon Roll

One dessert I never get tired of are cinnamon rolls. Over the years I’ve experimented with so many great flavors! I’ve tried them all, but that does not stop me from continuing to create new and different cinnamon roll recipes. While I’ve made tons of homemade yeast dough cinnamon rolls, today I felt like giving you the easiest shortcut using pre-made biscuit dough. It’s fine to make your own dough, but sometimes I just don’t have the time or energy....

Grain Free Shortbread Cookies

I went through a serious gluten-free baking phase after receiving the Babycakes cookbook a couple years ago, but that grew old for me pretty quickly. The gluten-free flours simply didn’t taste as good to us, when compared to wheat flour, and since Austin and I both seem to tolerate gluten just fine, there was no need to keep up the (rather expensive) gluten-free habit. While I still love many of the Babycakes recipes, we usually enjoy them with whole-wheat flour, instead....

Healthy Green Bean Casserole

Since onions can take some time to caramelize, I recommend starting this step first. You can use a separate pan, and just stir the onions every now and then, as they get golden and tender. I like to add a splash of water when I see any brown developing on the bottom of the pan. When you add water and stir, the brown should lift up, and give the onions a deep, caramel color....

Homemade Chocolate Almond Butter Vegan

This homemade chocolate almond butter was actually the result of one of my recent chocolate cravings. I had just finished making a batch of homemade almond butter (because I won’t spend $17 on a jar of organic almond butter at the store, either), and I decided to try out a chocolate version. I didn’t want to risk ruining my whole batch of almond butter if my experiment went poorly, so I started with just 1/2 cup and added small amounts of cocoa and sweetener as I went....
