I’ve been delving in the world of homemade cocktails and I’m blown away by how easy they are. I mean, just look at the recipe. The cocktail has just 3 ingredients! Shake over ice, garnish (if you want), and tilt it back. How much have we been spending on these pricey drinks at schnazzy cocktail bars? Scratch that, don’t tell me. I don’t even want to know. The daiquiri is such a simple yet magnificent cocktail with a delicate blend of sugar, fresh lime juice and rum. As with any recipe, to get the best tasting daiquiri, use the best ingredients. Make sure to use fresh lime juice squeezed by yourself and not the store bought kind because it will give the cocktail a nice, bright edge.
Ingredient Notes
Light rum – For it’s slightly sweet and mild flavor. Feel free the adjust the quantity of rum in this recipe, for me 2 oz is quite strong, so if you want something a bit milder, use half the rum recommended. Lime – Fresh juice as well as a twist for garnish. While you can use bottled lime, freshly squeezed it best as it gives the daiquiri a nice, bright edge. Simple syrup – I always make my own simple syrup and I make more than I need then just store the rest in a squeeze bottle in the fridge. This way whenever I want to make a cocktail, I always have simple syrup on hand. Check below for instructions on how to make your own.
