Asian Steak Bites
Since I’ve moved to Alberta, I’ve learned to enjoy a good steak, because let’s be honest, we do have some of the best beef in the world here. So besides just having a good steak every once in a while, I do enjoy cooking with beef and making lots of yummy recipes with it. One of the easiest things you can make with a good steak is steak bites such as these Garlic Butter Steak Bites or these Asian inspired steak bites because they literally take less than 15 minutes to make from start to finish. These tiny morsels are loaded with great flavor from the wonderful marinade ingredients and the epic 4 ingredient sauce. They’re perfectly tender, juicy and super satisfying.
Steak – I used a ribeye steak, cut into 1-inch cubes, because I find it makes the most juiciest steak bites. Other cut of beef you can use are top sirloin, flank steak or tenderloin. If your ribeye steak has a lot of fat on it, especially around the edges, I recommend to trim some of that fat. Baking Soda – This is one of those secret ingredients you’ll see me use occasionally on meat because it’s a great tenderizer. It also helps with browning the meat. Cornstarch – Helps thicken up our sauce plus it also adds a bit of silky and smooth texture on the outside of the steak bites. Sweet Soy Sauce – To add a nice dark color to our beef. You can also use regular dark soy sauce instead, or if you can’t find that either, just replace it with additional regular soy sauce. Soy Sauce – Choose a low sodium soy sauce. Hoisin Sauce – This is going to add some sweetness to our beef. You can sub this with teriyaki sauce, plum sauce or even oyster sauce. Pepper – You’ll want some nice coarsely ground black pepper. Use as much as you like, I prefer a little bit more in this dish, but you be the judge.
For Sauce
Hoisin Sauce – You can sub this with teriyaki sauce, plum sauce or even oyster sauce. Soy Sauce – As I mentioned already, choose a low sodium soy sauce for less sodium. Chili Garlic Sauce – Such as Sambal Oelek which is my favorite, but any chili garlic sauce will work. Sub with sriracha sauce. Honey – For a bit of sweetness. Sub with regular sugar or brown sugar.
What’s The Best Cut Of Beef To Use For Steak Bites
As mentioned, I used ribeye steak because it’s a tender and incredibly flavorful. Other cuts you could use would be tenderloin, sirloin steak, flank steak, or New York strip steak.
Leftovers
Allow the steak bites to come to room temperature before storing them to an airtight container and refrigerating for up to 3 days.
